PLANT SALE NOTICE
Participate in a RARE "thinning" of a major bromeliad collection!
Tell your friends.

This Sunday, August 16th, you have the opportunity to make some serious upgrades to your garden while supporting the San Diego Bromeliad Society! Andy Cuffel has been working for Jeffrey Kent thinning out some of his personal collection and rather than these beautiful plants going in the trash, Andy has saved hundreds of bromeliads and wants to share them with you!

Every plant will be $2, and half of all purchases Andy will donate back to the San Diego Bromeliad society.  There are all sorts of bromeliads available; guzmanias, aechmeas, neos, pitcarnias, vrieseas, bills and more.  Most do not have an ID and Andy will not be able to provide it for you.  Please do not ask what specifically is available because most of them are NO ID.  Most of what is available will prefer shade/sun protection and has been growing in a greenhouse for many years so they will need lots of water in these hot summer months.  Andy only saved things Jeffrey said would do okay outside.

In order to ensure everyone's health and safety, click the link below to sign up for a private shopping window.  Windows are limited to 30 minutes, masks required, groups of no more than 2 at a time.  Andy can accept cash or credit/debit card.  Please reach out to Andy directly for additional information (cuffelfarms@gmail.com)

The San Diego Bromeliad Society Holiday Tree 2019
The tree was given to charity this year.
Thanks to Nancy Groves for the efforts - and for the photo taken at December Nights.

Remember last year's picnic?
Here we are gathered around to hear how the garden at Pam's place came to be.

THANK YOU to all who made our June 2019 Exhibition & Sale in Balboa Park a HUGE success.

Picture

It was a team effort, headed by Morlane (sales) and Juliana (exhibit). So many pitched in to volunteer, and it was inspiring — from sales to security! And so many folks brought in plants...

Check out the photos below, and check out the page here.

 Bromeliads
pronounced broh-MEE-le-ads

. . . flowering plants belonging to the plant family Bromeliaceae.
There are more than 3,000 species and hundreds of hybrids.

In a Nutshell:

Bromeliads are members of a plant family known as Bromeliaceae (bro-meh-lee-AH-say-eye). The family contains over 3000 described species in approximately 56 genera. The most well known bromeliad is the pineapple. The family contains a wide range of plants including some very un-pineapple like members such as Spanish Moss (which is neither Spanish nor a moss). Other members resemble aloes or yuccas while still others look like green, leafy grasses.
In general they are inexpensive, easy to grow, require very little care, and reward the grower with brilliant, long lasting blooms and ornamental foliage. They come in a wide range of sizes from tiny miniatures to giants. They can be grown indoors in cooler climates and can also be used outdoors where temperatures stay above freezing.
